All About Luxury Curtains

Friday, December 3, 2010

Curtains and drapes are the finishing touch to any well furnished room. To pull together the look created by decor accents and furniture, curtains must compliment and enhance the overall design.

Many new trends have influenced the type of curtain and drape styles available for luxury homes.
  • Decision maker: The decision maker when it came to curtains was typically the woman, but more and more interior designers have seen that men get involved in these decisions too. Men tend to favour straight lines and a more tailored look, while women typically prefer more color and a unique style. Interior designers have recently had to come up with a way to incorporate a blend of both tastes to create something unique and harmonious.

  • Going green: With environmental issues at the forefront of many individual's mind it is no wonder that luxury desighners are opting for earth-friendly curtains in their design. The demand for eco-chic curtains has grown tremendously, and more manufacturers are hoping to carry them soon.

  • Wire Mesh: This design trend that was best known in the late 80's and early 90's appears to be making a comeback. The texture is made from stainless steel, aluminum, or copper and the curtain is made to look modern and stylish. The mesh produces a very nice effect as it reflects and refracts light making it a stylish addition to any home.

  • Fabric trends: Untraditional materials are being used to design curtains today. String, bamboo, and even plastic is being used to create unique curtains to add to existing luxury decor.

As always, trends in design are often changing. Keep up with the latest luxury home trends on our blog.
