Update Post: Sunday we ordered all of the kitchen appliances; such a deal at the Home Depot.
Saturday, picked up plans and dropped them off to the engineer's office Monday... Supposedly for just a few days (x2 or 3 eh). Here it is Thursday, and still no plans with engineering stamps. Thursday I went ahead and made a few copies (blueprint size) of the plan and handed one to the new builder. Tomorrow, the sun will come out, bet your bottom dollar ... tomorrow ... tomorrow ... there's always tomorrow ... it's only a day away!

Progress for this past week: 1. Fired first builder (in a kind way), 2. Hired a new builder (he's also an engineer), 3. Measured property and paid for septic tank permit, 4. Was in contact with both the designer and engineering firm, 5. Contacted the county regarding a building permit (the waiting period is about one week).

Today: Pick up finished plans from designer.
Monday:
Have plans signed off by the engineer; have builder review plans and file for a building permit.

Blankity, Blank, Blank @#$% Here's my first rant about delays. It's been building up inside for the past few weeks ... OK ... now today I just whined and whined on the phone to DH. The house plans were supposed to be done at the engineers office over a week ago. When I wrote the builder he finally replied that engineering has ignored his call and they haven't gotten back with him. DH soothed the wild beast in me and, of course, was quick to remind me how fortunate we are and listed a zillion bad things that happened in Los Angeles over the course of the week. He's working the last year before he retires from the PD ... whilst I'm up here with the youngins getting the house built. Not sure which job is easier ... although I'd much rather be up here than stuck in the LA environs! Come to think of it, I may be PMS'ing as I normally don't rant and rave much! (That's got to be it) STILL WAITING and in blueprint mode!!

This New House will serve as a photo journal to update family and friends on the progress or delays we encounter during the next few months as we build our new home. You may see photos of me pulling out my hair or perhaps chopping down a tree. Stay tuned, the "fun" has just begun.

Recent photo taken on building site of our lot.
