This amazing architect Design from Malibu,California.this home named Beauvoir Residence in the middle of nature, using the surrounding hills as fortresses.it captures the nature and brings it inside through glass walls that act like windows to a dreamy landscape. Queens Park House in Sydney with Garden Design

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Home designs Queens Park House in Sydney:

Dominating with white, white house looks very clean and luxurious. MCK architect has completed the project to remodel Queens Park House in Sydney, Australia.
The main concept of this white house is a room connected to the park. This concept is derived from the idea of openness and the elimination of divisions and barriers. The most important is the interior will extend into and become part of the park, such as going to the garden will be part of the interior. Early vision in the conceptual stage is one of the sitting room which is situated between lush plants and trees with a garden wall as a wall of the room.
By the time the garden will grow thicker and taller and contribute to the urban scale and provide an oasis for the owners. This house is very friendly environment with good solar access and lots of ventilation.

New Simple Yet Dramatic Home Design

Saturday, October 16, 2010

I just completed a new home design for a client that will be built in "Tapestry at Charlotte's Grove"; a new community in Lake Elmo, Minnesota.  This modern cottage house plan is a classic example of the kind of work I love to do.  Simple yet dramatic in form.  Clean detailing inside and out.  Open and connected spaces.  Efficient in it's use of space and relatively affordable to construct.  Here is a sneak peek at the exteriors.

Look for a variation of this design to be offered soon at  Simply Elegant Home Designs.

Home Design Ideas - Split the Garage!

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

At Larson Brenner Architects I am currently working a client on a new home design to be constructed in Rochester, MN.  Here we have run into a very common dilemma.  What to do with 3 1/2 cars worth of garage?

If you put all of that garage to the side of the house you get one very wide plan.  If you put all of that garage forward of the house you get one very deep plan.  Many lots cannot accommodate either one of those plan arrangements.  So what I have proposed to do here is to split the garages into two separate structures.  The main two car garage is directly connected to the house via the mudroom zone.  The additional 1 1/2 car garage is placed on the opposite side of the lot; resulting in a nifty little entry court.  See sketches below.

Here you can see a birds eye view of the layout.  Notice the roof between the garage and house is low.  This helps to reduce the mass of the house.  Pulling the garages a bit forward of the front porch creates a nifty little courtyard.

So when you develop your next house plan - please think about the impact of that garage and look for creative solutions.

Home Design Ideas - Floating Stair

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

Here is another nice home design idea - a floating stair. The residential design world tends to do things the same way over and over while commercial building design tends to be more experimental. Below is an example of an interesting floating stair that would be well suited to any contemporary / modern house plan.
The stair is supported be a series of steel stringers which span from floor to landing. By holding the bottom of the riser above the tread one gains the illusion of "floating". The flat wood paneling at the interior wall and the commercial grade "storefront" window system beyond add to the modern aesthetic.

So when you working with your Architect on the design of your new home, ask him / her to think about the details in a unique way. It is the details that will make your home truly special.

Green Home Designs | Minimalist Home Designs

Planning to make a minimalist home green. A green home plan will try to use environmentally friendly building materials and furniture and will combine the rest as much as possible. A green home design will use renewable materials and durability.

Green house growing demand for new features

Today home buyers ask for more green features as a means to reduce costs, become more environmentally friendly, and adopt a lifestyle more healthy.

Green features into one of three priorities, after the price and location. Green features focus on energy efficiency, water efficiency, resource efficiency and indoor air quality and the elements include Energy Star appliances, low flow shower heads, carpet and paint with organic compounds of low volatile, and building materials from suppliers local.

The average green buyers would shell out $ 12,000 - on average - for green features, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR). National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) green building standards program manager Kevin Morrow expects the market share of green-certified homes rose to 20 percent in 2010 from about 10 percent in 2009 and 2 percent in 2006.

Tax credit and other financial incentives, coupled with a green certification, making it easier for buyers, contractors, and real estate professionals to go and build a minimalist green home designs.
