Floor-to-ceiling storage cabinets provide a place to integrate a built-in desk. These beaded inset cabinets have an autumn maple finish with a black glaze.

This kitchen’s large white beadboard island stands out against the beaded, cherry-stained perimeter cabinets. Sparing use of upper wall cabinets allowed the homeowners to retain their windows and natural light.

The gas cooktop, refrigerator, double oven and sink are placed in a convenient work triangle in this shallow u-shaped kitchen.

Achieve a country manor look with stone walls, lamp-style chandeliers and wood cabinets with a dark brown stain.

Staggering cabinet and drawer heights adds another element to the design of this hutch. A built-in wine rack, ample counter space and nearby sink allow this area to serve as a buffet, bar or butler’s pantry.

Designing a table at one end of the mahogany-topped island provided an informal dining area. Floor-to-ceiling inset cabinets with a cream-colored painted finish balance out the black island cabinetry and reddish-brown stone tile floors.

A tall pantry cabinet combined with glass-door upper cabinets, open shelving and a wine rack serves as both a china hutch and wet bar. A 4-inch-high mosaic tile backsplash, black countertop, and black traditionally styled faucet and bar sink polish off the space.

This massive estate-style kitchen includes a custom table featuring the same granite as the two kitchen islands. Using cream-colored tile for the floors and backsplash balances out the dark cabinetry and countertops.

The light-colored granite island countertop on the island complements the stone tile backsplash, while the appliqué on the wooden range hood matches the island’s cottage black finish and the black granite perimeter counters.

Flat-panel cherry wood cabinetry from Decor is finished in a Victorian cherry stain on the wall and base units, rope and crown molding, and the decorative ceiling coffer. Pear-colored walls and multi-hued narrow-plank floors keep the kitchen from getting too dark.
