In a recent article, in the Sun-Sentinel titled “TV host says no to DIY”, Mike Holmes discusses the importance of hiring a qualified builder. In his show, Holmes fixes mistakes that have been made by bad contractors or people who have attempted to remodel their own home.

Holmes makes it clear that even painting your own house can result in a tragedy so anything beyond paint could prove fatal to the home. Hiring a qualified builder is the most important step in the remodel and renovation process. Look for a contractor with an overwhelming list of references, if they can only offer three move on. It is important to call their references and even visit the homes they have built or remodeled.

New Homes a Rare Commodity

Finding a new single-family home isn’t an easy feat; with builder confidence sinking to new lows it is no surprise. At the present time, single-family home construction has dropped by 4.2%. Those homebuyers who are interested in purchasing a new home must act fast to secure their property.

An increase in single-family home construction is not predicted for another two years, so currently; the existence of new inventory in the housing market is scarce.

The National Association of Home Builders reports their lowest ever confidence index at 13 percent. While the housing market prices have stabilized builders are in no hurry to build new homes, particularly in the luxury home market.

Anyone, wishing to purchase a new luxury home better act fast or wait two years before their custom home is built.

Returning Florida Real Estate Market

I love to read news of the returning Florida housing market. I am a builder so I get to witness it first hand however, it is nice to see it recognized in the news. Even the luxury home market is improving greatly.

We have very little inventory left in South Florida. New custom homes are very scarce; anyone wishing to have a new custom home will have to act fast or wait a few years for their home to be built.

It is really invigorating to see our traffic increase so tremendously. I really take pride in my work and it's a real pleasure to have people tour our custom homes.
