Stacey Haines

Remember that adorable coastal cottage from last week belonging to the talented photographer Stacey Haines? Well I've got more images to share from her! This story from Canadian Home & Country actually won Stacey a National Magazine Gold Award in Canada. She not only shot the story, but pitched the idea and produced the shoot. The cute cabin in Nova Scotia actually belongs to her parents and their family did the makeover together, so winning this award was super special to her! Read more about this cozy getaway here and view more amazing photography from Stacey here!

Kathryn Chaplow

Thursday, March 24, 2011

A ton of new snow was just dumped on Minnesota, but that doesn't stop me from dreaming about summer! I'd love to have a lake home just like this Lake Michigan cottage designed by Kathryn Chaplow. Actually I'd love to just have a home like this one, it really doesn't even need to be by a lake! That serene bedroom is a slice of heaven! Love the aqua, the ceilings, the little nook...all so pretty. What about the porch...how fun is that red animal print?! And did you notice the blue and green fabric on the pillow on the sofa in the living room? It looks a lot like the fabric from yesterday's nursery! We gotta figure out what that is, I love it! See more of Kathryn's work right on over here!

Honeymoon??

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Right now it's -10 degrees outside here in Minneapolis (but feels like -30). And this weekend we experienced a record-breaking blizzard.....with over 17 inches of new snow. Fun. Stuck inside, we couldn't help but daydream about our upcoming honeymoon in April. We haven't decided on a destination yet. The only requirement: turquoise water. (Shocking, right?) How absolutely fabulous would it be to stay in the Maldives, at the exquisite Anantara Veli Resort & Spa?! My goodness.

I'm dying to ask you guys...where have you been with dazzling turquoise water?? I'd love your two cents!

Cottage Bedroom Makeover

Friday, March 4, 2011

Does it get any better than this 1920s stucco cottage in East Hampton designed by House Beautiful contributing editor Frances Schultz? I'm madly in love with her master suite, which used to be the two tiny front bedrooms. All of the fabulous blue on the walls and pretty fabrics, the half canopy, and the dressing table! And the study...what a perfect place to blog! The photographs by Trevor Tondro really capture it all so beautifully too. To see before-n-afters of the space, head to House Beautiful!

I'm so happy it's Friday! Believe it or not, 6 weeks from today Chris and I will be getting married. (Didn't we just get engaged?!) Tonight I'm meeting with a hair and makeup artist to go over my vision and on Sunday Chris' super sweet sisters are throwing me a wedding shower! My very own wedding shower...I can't believe it! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend too!

Costas Picadas

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

When the proportion of AM child's room above his blog Cape Cod Design, I had a suspicion the rest of the house photographed by Costas Picadas must be damn cool too. So I did some research and found several photos of the party blue and white on the Greek island of Mykonos. These funky chandeliers are great and I want them all. While we're at it, I'll get spectacular views too! See more photos here!

Tim Clarke

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Interior designer Tim Clarke out of Santa Monica, California is known for taking classic motifs and interpreting them in a fresh way. I adore his modern beach home style...free and light, nautical without being kitschy. Tim's retail store in Santa Monica, Tower 20 Store, reflects his coastal modern aesthetic so even us land-locked (and freezing cold) folks can infuse our homes with sophisticated, beachy style. See more of his work over at Coastal Living, and his website!

Thanks you guys for all your sweet birthday comments for my dad yesterday!! He got such a kick out of reading them! :)

Sceneries Armonia

Monday, February 7, 2011

I was instantly smitten with LA-based designer Emily Ruddo of Armonia Decors when I saw her fabulous work popping up on so many of my favorite blogs over the last couple weeks. Like so many of us, Emily gravitates towards blue, and uses the coast and water as inspiration in many of her designs. She is a big fan of creating spaces where people feel harmonious and calm, but more importantly, better about themselves when they are in them. (Love that.) The right blends of color are usually a part of her equation, as you can see from these amazing photos taken by photographer Meghan Beierle-O'Brien. Check out her blog for lots of inspiration and ideas, and her portfolio right over here!
