Out the kitchen door, an almost full moon is luminous tonight.

Witch hazel and fall color

My gardening companion planted a large native witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana) to the left of the meadow in front of the garage some years ago (we've been reducing the meadow's size). It's flourished in the conditions there, and is really now more of a small tree than a shrub.

This afternoon, it glowed clear yellow, with the backdrop of our neighbor's beautiful old Southern red oak.

And the view from my study window was striking, too, with the vibrant yellow of the hickory peaking through.

After a rainy Saturday, it was nice to have a sunny fall day!

The Gamer's Lounge Chair

Inspired by the “desire to touch” is the best way to describe the Offi and Co. Coosh Lounge and Ottoman. Cut from a single block of high density foam, this lounge chair and footstool come together to create a comfortable interlocking chaise perfect for laying back and chilling out. When not in use, the two pieces fit together to form a striking, space-saving sphere that just begs for attention.

This kid-friendly piece is safe, breathable and can be moved to any room to provide a perfect seat for hanging out, watching TV or of course playing video games. So grab the Playstation, X-box, Guitar Hero or old-school N64, unroll your Coosh Lounge, and you’ll look so cool playing that it won’t matter if your 7-year-old just beat you.

Wave Watching.

The winds have changed direction and the temperature is dropping. We had heavy rain first thing and wild winds. As I watched from the warm comfort of my bed the leaves were being blown horizontally across the windows. We had been forewarned and so yesterday Linas and I put up the dams across the road to divert the water into my neighbour's field instead of washing away the drive. Midmorning Peter and I decided to go down to Woolacombe for a spot of wave watching. As we drove down there was a heavy shower but it dried up for our walk and there were even some patches of sunshine.
We parked on the same road but this time went down to Barricane Beach, another first visit. There are fewer steps down to the beach and lots of interesting rock formations.

We spent some time scrambling over the rocks exploring the rock pools.

There weren't too many people about, just a few families exercising the kids. I expect most of the half-term visitors will have headed home and it's just us lucky locals who get to enjoy the sea and beaches.
Back home I've sent off my CV to more schools, sorted out the last of my school work for the week and am about to unearth my sewing machine to finish altering a top I bought yesterday. I bought the top in a sale and I could see it had possibilities. First I spent quite a while unpicking some garish sequins that were splodged over the shoulders. Then I chopped about 6" off the bottom and it is all pinned and pressed ready to be sewn. Then hopefully I'll have a top I'm happy with.

design that would be more beautiful when combined with good lighting arrangements of modern lighting

Colacril has presented a new tub that is part of the design project - Atmosphere by Romano Adolini. The tub was impressed with the simple shape and really minimalist design that would be more beautiful when combined with good lighting arrangements of modern lighting. With geometric shapes as possible to save space and can be placed as central in the bathroom near the wall. Combination polished like the exterior and interior matte and smooth, and unique lighting of a lamp in the corner of the room makes it very beautiful and able to decorate a modern bathroom. This minimalist bath made of ecological materials and the product itself polymineral presents a real health.
Lighting lamps must use a soft white light or using direct sunlight during the day. [via]

woodsy Norway Summer Getaway

While this is technically more than a room of the house, I was eager for this secluded, woodsy Norway Summer Getaway. Part of the attraction is the location, of course. Located in the 170-kilometer-long Hardanger Fjord, this area is filled with beautiful scenery of reason, with waterfalls, glaciers, gardens, fields, and mountains to choose from. I can imagine filling the nights long summer with a bike or kayak trip is interrupted by a cold reduction in the fjord and followed with a glass of Aquavit in this modern deck.
